Edward J. Kasemeyer was born in Baltimore in 1945 and moved to Howard County in 1957 where he currently resides. He graduated from Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College in 1967 with a degree in political science. Mr. Kasemeyer served in the Maryland General Assembly for 32 years, 8 years in the House of Delegates and 24 years in the Senate. He served as Chairman of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee from 2010 to 2018. He retired at the end of the term in 2018 and was appointed to the IAC in early 2019.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ms. Linda Eberhart worked in Baltimore Schools for 42 years as a teacher for 38 years and then as Executive Director of Teaching and Learning. She was named the 2001-2002 Maryland Teacher of the Year while teaching at Mount Royal Elementary\/Middle School, where her students had the state\u2019s highest test scores in math. She then worked as Director of Mathematics and Executive Director of Teaching and Learning in Baltimore City. Ms. Eberhart subsequently served on the Maryland State Board of Education and has been very active in promoting educational improvement throughout the State.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Secretary Chaudhry was appointed by Governor Moore on January 12, 2023. Previously serving as the Maryland Department of Health Deputy Secretary of Operations since January 2021, Secretary Chaudhry oversaw the MDH Healthcare System, the Office of Facilities Management and Development, the Office of Preparedness and Response, the Office of Safety and Secured Transport, and the Office of Contract Management and Procurement. Chaudhry previously served as the Acting Deputy Secretary of Operations for the Maryland Department of Health since August 2020 and the administration\u2019s Director of the Office of Facilities Management and Development since 2017. Chaudhry has worked in State government, specifically for MDH, since 2004.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr. Carey M. Wright was appointed Interim State Superintendent of Education by the Maryland State Board of Education in October 2023. She was the longest-serving State Superintendent of Education for Mississippi, credited with making the state a national leader in literacy instruction and outcomes during her nine-year tenure. Past administrative roles include District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) chief academic officer; DCPS Office of Teaching and Learning deputy chief; and associate superintendent for Montgomery County Public Schools Office of Special Education and
Student Services. Dr. Wright, who began teaching in her native Prince George\u2019s County, was also a longtime teacher, principal, and director of special education and student services in the Howard County Public School System.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Michael E. Darenberg, a Baltimore County resident and business owner, has a history of advocacy for Baltimore County Schools, notably advocating for the installation of air conditioning systems in school facilities. Mr. Darenberg is the District 6 member of the Baltimore County School Board Nominating Commission for the 2021-2025 term, a position to which he was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan. Mr. Darenberg serves on the IAC as the Governor\u2019s appointee as of the spring of 2022.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Secretary Flora was nominated by Governor Moore on January 18, 2023 and has over 30 years of leadership experience in project management, organizational development, sustainability and resiliency integration, and community and economic development. Brian Gibbons is the Chairman and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons, a mid-Atlantic based developer of large retail and mixed use properties throughout the region. During the past two decades, Mr. Gibbons has overseen the acquisition, finance, leasing, development and management of over 10 million-square-feet of real estate, worth more than $1.5 billion. He and his team have played a large role in the way people shop in the Baltimore area, helping to popularize the open-air shopping concept that has replaced many indoor malls. The company is responsible for leading some of the area\u2019s most significant commercial development in the last two decades. With him, Mr. Gibbons brings a unique and valuable perspective as a member of the IAC.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A Maryland State Senator from January 9, 1991 to January 10, 2007 and Maryland\u2019s Secretary of Aging from March 20, 2007 to January 15, 2015, the life of Ms. Gloria Lawlah has been one clearly committed to service. Born in South Carolina, Ms. Lawlah would become a teacher by trade.
