Over seven months, the IAC assessed the physical condition and educational sufficiency of almost 1,400 public school facilities in the State of Maryland. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Data collected in this first round of assessments will be updated annually, with 25% of schools in Maryland re-assessed through site visits each year by the IAC. <\/span><\/p><p><b><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Overall, the goal of the SFA is to give the State the ability to identify the school facilities in Maryland with the highest needs, and therefore be better equipped to focus its available capital dollars on those facilities.<\/span> <\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-db29fb8 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"db29fb8\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-fc07867\" data-id=\"fc07867\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a340edc elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a340edc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">How are the SFA's scores calculated? <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-86e2510 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"86e2510\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Assessments were conducted by a team of facility assessment experts, and the baseline first year assessment generated what is called a<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Facility Condition Index (FCI) score<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">for each school <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that reflects that facility\u2019s physical condition as quantified as the depleted percentage of the useful lifespan. A lower FCI score is better. As of the end of the FY 2024 Refresh Cycle of the SFA, the statewide average FCI is currently 52.63%, which equates to having a useful lifespan that is about halfway depleted. The FCI score allows building components, building systems, and entire facilities across the state to be compared apples-to-apples. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Additionally, to determine the highest need schools, it is essential to incorporate the<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">educational sufficiency<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">of each facility within their overall scores. To do this, the FCI is combined with data collected on educational sufficiency. With relevancy weighting incorporated (final weighting for this is to be determined, and models within the SFA Info Packet below show several options for weighting), each facility will receive an overall<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Maryland Condition Index (MDCI) score<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 15px; font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; color: #000000;\"> so that every school can be compared against all others. The higher the MDCI score, the further the school is from educational sufficiency.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element
